Performance Helicopters – designed to perform

I first spoke to Joachim and Dario back in 2021. I ran a Discord server called the Flybar, and we made an offer for them to come on and do a presentation. They were great, very professional and willing to show us everything that was going on. At the time they had just brought a high quality 520 onto the market, but in the background they had a secret, which I now think was the Tron 7.0.

Tron 7.0 Elite

This is the latest and my favourite model. Although it seems very similar in layout to the Advance, it is in fact a completely new model with 95% of the parts being different. There are a lot of subtle changes such as the cyclic servos being inverted, thicker mainshaft, 1 to 1 geometry on the head, and this all adds up to a model that feels very different.

Also the canopy is slimmer and more cutaway to the back, which makes forward and sideways less draggy and much faster.

Initially I was in no rush to switch my Advances over to the new model (costs and all that), but I think they’ve made such good changes that I now will.

Tron 7.0 Advance

It’s a super high quality 700, that doesn’t seem to have any weak points and is easy to service. In the first year of flying these, I put about 3,600 flights on 2 of these, and the only thing I had to do was replace the belts at around 700 flights. That’s quite a lot of belts, around 1 every 2 months.

Tron 5.5 Gemini / Orion

I also fly the Gemini, which was a new model in 2024. I get super tempted to try a Dnamic every time I see one, but I’m so happy with the way the Advance flies and is able to do everything from low to high headspeed, I can’t see me getting more out of it.

Tron 7.0 Dnamic

The Dnamic is a 6-8S lightweight 700 size helicopter. As I was quite happy with the Advance at the time, I never saw the appeal of this model until I got one. Now I take it with me whenever I go out.

At low headspeeds I can get it down to about 1,000 RPM without any wobbling and decent performance. The blade noise is amazing and there’s nothing better than putting it into a funnel and hearing the blade slap as it moves round.

And it’s incredible at autorotations. If will float down like a feather and land with super low headspeed. You don’t even need to dive it down at the end to generate additional headspeed like the other heavier diskloaded helicopters.
